“My name is Milos Djordjevic, and I am a licensed funeral director and embalmer. We do not have an office in Cicero, so we built our service to come to you: Cicero families can arrange everything by phone or online, and we travel to the place of death. You will see every cost before you agree to anything.”

Three simple steps. We handle the rest, day or night.
Call (773) 866-2273 any time, day or night, or make arrangements online in under 15 minutes. No funeral home visit needed.
We come to the home, hospital, hospice or nursing home in Cicero or nearby, and we file the cremation permit and death certificates for you.
Once the cremation is complete, we call you right away and return the cremated remains to your family.
We serve families in every part of Cicero, including:
These nearby hospitals and Cicero care centers are among the places we can come to, day or night, along with private homes:
If your loved one dies at home in Cicero and was not on hospice, call 911 first; the police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office decide what happens next. If hospice was involved, call the hospice nurse, then call us at (773) 866-2273. Either way, we can start the arrangements by phone the same day.
Most families in Cicero complete arrangements online or by phone, without visiting a funeral home. We let you know as soon as the cremated remains are ready.
The Town of Cicero is in Cook County. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office issues the cremation permit, and the Medical Examiner’s fee is covered by our $200 permit charge. We register the death certificate through the Illinois Department of Public Health’s electronic system once the doctor has certified it.
Certified copies for a death in Cicero come through the Cook County Clerk’s Office. If the death happened at a Chicago hospital, such as Mount Sinai or Loretto, the City of Chicago issues them instead. We order them for you in either case: $40 for the first copy and $20 for each one after that.
Straight answers about cost, timing and paperwork. If your question is not here, call us at (773) 866-2273, day or night.
A direct cremation for a Cicero family begins at $997. Every cremation also needs a $200 county permit, certified death certificates, a state-required container, a temporary urn and sales tax on those two items. Following a hospital death, with four certified copies, a typical total comes to $1,500.96. You can test other combinations with the price calculator on our pricing page.
Cicero is in Cook County, so the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office issues the cremation permit, whether the death happens at home, in a care center or at a hospital nearby. Its fee is part of our $200 permit charge. Certified death certificates come from the Cook County Clerk’s Office, or from the City of Chicago for a death at a Chicago hospital.
Expect 5 to 10 business days for most cremations. The clock depends on the family signing the authorization, the Medical Examiner’s Office issuing the permit and the doctor certifying the death certificate. We follow each step and call you as soon as the cremated remains are ready to be returned.
No. Cicero families can arrange the whole cremation online in under 15 minutes or by phone, and we come to the place of death. Nobody has to visit a funeral home. If you would like to meet in person anyway, our offices are in Chicago, Northbrook, Naperville and Evanston.
Yes. Water cremation, or aquamation, starts at $1,897. It uses water rather than flame, is gentler on the environment and typically returns about 20% more cremated remains. With the same permit, four certificates, container, temporary urn and tax as a simple cremation, the typical total is $2,400.96.
Call 911 first. Police respond, and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office decides whether to examine your loved one before release, which can add time. You can still call us right away. We begin the paperwork, stay in contact with the Medical Examiner’s Office and bring your loved one into our care once released.
You can keep the cremated remains at home, share them among relatives or place them in a cemetery. Illinois permits scattering in a cemetery scattering garden, or on private property where the owner agrees. Public parks, forest preserves and Lake Michigan need advance permission from the agency that manages them. Urns start at $95 if you want one.
Tell the nurse that your family has chosen Caring Cremations and share our number, (773) 866-2273. MacNeal is in Berwyn, in Cook County, so the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office issues the permit and certified copies come through the Cook County Clerk. We coordinate the release, bring your husband into our care and file everything for you.
Caring Cremations does not have an office in Cicero, and most Cicero families never need to visit one of ours. The arrangements take under 15 minutes online, or you can do them by phone with our team at any hour. We come to the home, hospital or nursing home, so no one has to drive across town while grieving.
If you would feel better talking face to face, you can meet us at our offices in Chicago, Northbrook, Naperville or Evanston. Many families simply call, ask their questions, and finish the rest from the kitchen table.
Prices should be easy to check. Here is how the typical total for a direct cremation adds up after a hospital death, with four certified death certificates. Only merchandise is taxed, at 10.25%; services are not.
Two charges appear only when needed: a $295 immediate removal fee for a home, nursing home or hospice transfer, and an optional $150 expedited cremation. Urns start at $95 if you want something beyond the temporary urn.
Several hospitals sit just outside town: MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn to the west, The Loretto Hospital in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood to the north, and Mount Sinai Hospital to the east. When a patient dies, the nurses ask which funeral provider the family has chosen. Give them our name and number, and we take it from there.
From there we work out the release with the hospital staff and transport your loved one into our care at no added charge. If the death was sudden, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office may review it first, and we will keep you posted while that happens. Because Loretto and Mount Sinai are inside Chicago, certified copies for deaths there come from the City of Chicago, which we handle for you.
We believe in clear, upfront pricing and exceptional care. Here’s exactly what’s included and any additional options.
Only merchandise is taxed; services are not. We explain every charge before any decision is made. See your estimated total or our full pricing and forms.
A prepaid cremation plan locks in today’s price, records your wishes and spares your family difficult decisions later. You can pre-plan online from home.
