In Loving Memory of Yunzhang Xu

Yunzhang Xu passed away peacefully on October 16, 2026, at Evanston Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 11, 1937, in Jiangsu Province, China.

Yunzhang was an outstanding student who excelled academically throughout high school and college. After completing his education, he moved to Beijing to work as an engineer, where he met the love of his life. They shared a beautiful marriage of 58 years and were blessed with one daughter.

Yunzhang was a kind and gentle soul, known for his easygoing nature, caring heart, and quiet strength. He worked tirelessly to provide for and care for his family, always putting their needs before his own and facing life’s challenges without complaint.

In his leisure time, Yunzhang enjoyed collecting stamps and coins, playing chess, practicing Tai Chi, and fishing. These simple pleasures brought him joy throughout his life.

He was a sweat Grandpa to his two granddaughters. He helped take care of them when they were babies. Whenever he heard the baby cry, he would announce in a loud and cheerful voice, “Here comes Grandpa”. He would scoop the baby up, cradle them gently in his arms, and sway with a smooth rhythm. Almost immediately, the baby would stop crying.

Yunzhang will be remembered for his gentle spirit, humble nature, and deep love for his family. Though he will be dearly missed, his kindness, dedication, and the memories he leaves behind will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
