Walter James Golden, age 77, passed away on May 4, 2026. He was born on December 16, 1948, in Cruger, Mississippi, to the late Bilbo Golden and Everylena Golden.

Walter was a devoted partner to Shelly Black for over 35 years, who also preceded him in death. He proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. A skilled construction worker, Walter was known for his strong work ethic and his ability to build and repair just about anything. In his free time, he enjoyed music, collecting electronics, working on cars, and watching sports.

Walter leaves to cherish his memory his son, Cortez Black (Iesha Black); daughters, Latasha Posey (Christopher Posey), Jaucinta Golden (Derrick Mangrum), Simone Black, Billie Coleman, and Patrice Coleman (Dovran Charyyev). He also leaves to cherish his memory Edna Ketchum, mother of Jaucinta. He is also survived by two sisters, Ruby Johnson and Deborah Payne.

He leaves behind a loving legacy of grandchildren: Devani, Ryan, Marquis, Brooke, Cikera, Ceonna, Iyonna, Mya, Jeremiah, Josiah, and Journei; and two great-grandchildren, Marquis Jr. and Kyliie. He is also remembered by his special cousin, Hunter Williams; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends.

In addition to his parents and beloved partner, Walter was preceded in death by his sisters, Lucille Talley, Alberta Banks, Lue Bertha McCowan, and Charlena Cooper; his brothers, William Murray Seals, Albert Seals, Henry Seals, Leroy Golden, Joe Golden, Otis Golden, and Eddie Golden; and his special cousin, Tommie Lee Williams.

Walter will be remembered for his dedication to family, his craftsmanship, and the joy he found in the simple things he loved.
