Victoria Anna
Henderson
Jun 16, 1974 — Feb 14, 2025
It is with a heart full of remembrance and gratitude that we celebrate the life of Victoria Anna Henderson, a cherished individual whose light shone brightly throughout her 50 years. Born on June 16, 1974, in the bustling city of Chicago, Illinois, Victoria brought joy and love to all those around her until her passing in the same beloved city on February 14, 2025.
Victoria's early affinity for helping others pointed her toward a career in the medical field, which she pursued with passion for well over two decades. Throughout her life, her unwavering commitment to her faith as a devoted Jehovah's Witness remained at the forefront. Victoria's dedication to teaching Bible study was unmistakable—come rain or shine, she would be tuned in to her congregation's meetings, whether in person or via Zoom, ensuring that her spiritual community and service were never neglected.
As much as she was a pillar of faith, Victoria was also the life of the party. Her love for singing and dancing was infectious. With the ability to turn any moment into a performance, she often serenaded friends and family, turning off the radio just to share her favorite tunes in her own voice. Victoria's humor and friendliness made her a beloved figure, and her radiant smile could brighten even the darkest of rooms. She was very caring and committed to knowing the whereabouts of those she cherished and their loved ones, always offering warm hugs and making a follow-up call to share endearing words.
As a true sports enthusiast, Victoria's interest in athletics knew no bounds. From tennis to soccer, football to basketball, and every sport in between, she reveled in the thrill of the game. Name any sport, and she knew the stats, player biographies, and the latest highlights. Her sharp memory allowed for compassionate, spirited discussions about any athlete's career, and she could recall facts with such precision that one might think she had their autobiographies memorized.
Family was the cornerstone of Victoria's life. She leaves behind her one surviving child, her daughter, Lacretia Maryann Henderson; a sister, Tenisha Henderson; cousins Victor, Cynthia, Trevor, Lashonda, and Roberta; and a host of aunts, uncles, friends, and extended family who will continue to honor her legacy. Victoria was predeceased by both her sons, Derrick Gregory Reese Henderson and DeShawn Tyrone Curtis Reese; her husband, James; her mother, Emily Rachel James; her uncles, Tyrone Curtis Henderson and Winston Ashford; her aunt, Verna Ashford; her grandmothers, Ora Vee Henderson and Wilma Ashford; her great-aunt, Lucille Jones; her great-uncle, Theoney Mosley; her great-grandmother, Rachel Mosley; and her cousins, Geneva Janet Rice, Chad Mosley, Barry Jr. Savage, and Aaron Ashford.
