Obituary

Udo Karl Siegmund Wiedel, 73, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, on January 1, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of deep love, community spirit, and lasting influence. Born January 6, 1952, in Kronach, Germany, Udo built a life defined by dedication to family, friendship, and the traditions he valued most.

Udo was the beloved son of Karl and Karoline, a cherished father to Anthony, Linda, and Andrea, and a beloved brother to Juergen Hans. He was also a devoted husband to Gertrude.

Known for his vibrant personality and as a true social butterfly, Udo had a gift for bringing people together. He was the kind of person who could strike up a conversation anywhere, make others feel welcome, and turn everyday moments into memories.

Udo proudly supported local German communities and remained actively connected to his high school alma mater, Lakeview, maintaining strong ties throughout his life. He also had a deep passion for innovation and was heavily involved in the early days of IT and computer technology, embracing the field with curiosity. He loved pool, and those who knew him will remember the joy he brought to the table - whether he was playing, teaching, or simply enjoying the camaraderie the game created.

Above all, he will be remembered for the energy he brought into a room, the loyalty he showed to those he loved, and the lasting impact he made through his kindness and presence. Udo's legacy is one of devotion, influence, and the quiet strength of a life well lived. While he will be deeply missed, his life will be celebrated with gratitude and love.
