Tyree Paul
Miller Ii
May 1, 1951 — Jun 8, 2025
Tyree Paul Miller, II, aka Hollywood, a devoted brother, uncle and friend passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025, at the age of 74. Born in in Chicago, Illinois in 1951 to Tyree and Florence (Jones) Miller, Ty's life was marked by his loyalty to friends and family and his love of the entertainment industry—music, television and motion pictures.
Ty attended St. Carthage Elementary School, St. Leo High School and DePaul University—all in Chicago, Illinois. A music lover and born entertainer, Ty sang in his own rock band, Tyree II and Co., in the 70s and 80s. In February of 1989 Ty became a member of the Motion Pictures Mechanics Union. In that role, over many years, he worked for both Ron Howard and Oprah Winfrey among many other notables in the entertainment industry.
Ty was always the funniest guy in the room, the life of the party—always ready to share laughter, stories, good food and good times. Ty was also always the smartest guy in the room---unbeatable at Jeopardy or Trivial Pursuit.
Ty was a loyal and dependable friend. Once you were in his life, you were in it forever. Ty especially cherished his role as an uncle and a mentor, and took great joy in talking to and encouraging young people and sharing his words of wisdom with them.
Ty was preceded in death by his parents, Tyree and Florence Miller. He is survived by his siblings, sisters and brother-in-law: Dr. Jacquelyn D. Miller of Lincoln, NE, Alysha Miller of Chicago Heights, IL, Danyelle Miller Hubbard (Shandre) of Crown Point, IN and Marsha Miller of Chicago Heights, IL; brothers: Arnold Miller of Wichita, Kansas and Kurtys Miller of Mililani, Hawaii; numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins, and a host of precious and much loved friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Entertainment Community Fund at entertainmentcommunity.org
Two memorial services, one in Illinois and one in Hawaii will be held between now and the end of October. Details to be determined.
