Thomas "Tom" Hillmann, 65, a longtime resident of Bolingbrook, Illinois, passed away on October 17, 2026, in Naperville, Illinois.

Tom was born on November 9, 1960, in La Grange, Illinois. He proudly served in the United States Air Force as a Senior Airman with the 28th Organizational Maintenance Squadron (OMS), Bomb Wing. As a mechanic specializing in his favorite aircraft, the Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker, Tom traveled the world ensuring the aircraft remained mission- and combat-ready. His military service was a source of pride and an important part of his life until 1984.

Tom will be remembered for his easygoing nature, deep patriotism, and unmistakable sense of humor. He never took life too seriously and brought laughter to those around him. He especially enjoyed Rock-N-Roll music, cheering for the Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs, spending time around a campfire, and doing what he affectionately called "dude things" in the Florida swamplands with his brothers.

Tom is survived by his children, April Kalad (John) and Casey Hillmann (Lauren); his grandchildren, Andrew, Oliver, and Wren; and his siblings, Lynn Kralicek (Ray), twin brother Steven Hillmann (Charlotte), and Dr. William Hillmann (Holly). He was preceded in death by his father, Donald "Don" Elmer Hillmann; his mother, Ruby Margaret (Carrier) Hillmann; and his sister, Diane Mamola (Jeff).

In keeping with a traditional remembrance, a Military Honors Service will be held on November 18, 2026, promptly at 12:30 p.m. at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W. Hoff Road, Elwood, IL 60421. Family and friends are welcome to attend. A private family luncheon will follow.
