Steven Oliver Marcy, 74, passed away on November 11, 2024, at Hines VA Hospital in Chicago, IL. Born on December 23, 1949, Steve dedicated his life to service, both as a brave member of the Army 173rd Airborne Brigade (1967-1970) and as a steadfast friend, family member, and community figure.

Steve is deeply missed by his loving wife, Deborah, of 53 years, his children - Troy (Julie), Kristi, Brad (Ashlie), his grandchildren - Grace, Ethan, Evan, Kennedy, and Carsen, and countless extended family and friends.

He also leaves behind his siblings, George L Marcy (Linda), James Marcy, William Marcy, Kathy Marcy, and Karen Marcy, along with many cherished cousins, nieces, and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, George Marcy Sr. and Dorothy Marcy, his brother Phillip Marcy (Maureen), and his twin siblings, Michael Terrence and Sharon Lynn.

Known for his love of reading, golf, fishing, swimming, music of Frank Sinatra, and donuts, Steve's greatest joy was spending time with his beloved grandchildren. He was also known for his immense love for animals and birds. His life's narrative was characterized by acts of kindness, laughter, and the profound connections he made with those around him.

A military honors burial will be held at Camp Butler on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 1 p.m., where friends, family, and comrades can gather to honor his memory.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Fisher House Foundation, Paralyzed Veterans of America, or the Shriners Children's Hospital - organizations that reflect Steve's lifelong commitment to fellow servicemen/women and community.
