Stephen Vincent Earle, loving father and husband, passed away at the age of 74 on May 4, 2025, in La Grange, IL, due to acute respiratory failure. Born on December 19, 1950, in Oak Park, IL, Stephen's journey was marked by his intelligence and wit, dry humor, and profound curiosity.

Stephen's early life in Oak Park laid the foundation for his enduring love of history, which he pursued at St. Thomas University in St. Paul, MN, where he met his wife, Linda. Despite obtaining a degree in History and Education with the intent of teaching high school, Stephen would pursue a career in Information Technology as a COBOL Programmer and IDMS Database Administrator.

Stephen was a man of many interests, with a particular affinity for science, history, and music. His talent as an accomplished guitarist was a source of joy not only for himself but also for his family and friends. He also enjoyed the simple things in life - great conversation, baseball, fudge, a good pizza.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Linda (Krebs) Earle, his parents, Laurence Benjamin and Angela (Vorderbrueggen) Earle, his brother, Phillip Michael, and his sister, Mary Frances. His memory will be cherished and kept alive by his children, Elizabeth (Patrick), Daniel, Jennifer, Stephen, and Anne (James), his six grandchildren, and his nine siblings, all of whom will miss him dearly.

Stephen will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, a kind-hearted brother, and a loyal friend. He had a remarkable impact on his children, teaching them to question everything; to seek knowledge; to think critically; and to treat others with kindness and respect, regardless of color, gender, heritage, background or beliefs.

As we bid farewell to Stephen Vincent Earle, we reflect on a life well-lived. Stephen would often say he was one of the luckiest men to have walked the Earth.

While Stephen said 'memorials are for the living', those of us who are still navigating this mortal coil would like to come together to honor and remember him. Stephen's Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, June 14th. Please contact a family member for details.
