Sidney Fischer

Sidney Fischer (née Herbert) passed away on July 24, 2026, at the age of 79. Sidney was the cherished only daughter of the late John and Idylle Herbert. She was born on September 22, 1946, in Kansas City, Missouri, nine months after John returned from World War II, making her among the first members of the Baby Boom generation.

She is survived by her daughter, Nicole (Michael) Teti; her beloved grandchildren, Christopher, Joshua, and Anna Teti; her brother, Sean (Christine) Herbert; and her niece and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Dieter Fischer.

As a young adult, Sidney worked for United Airlines, a role that gave her the opportunity to travel to destinations near and far. After the birth of her daughter, Sidney became a homemaker and also helped with her husband’s business.

In her later years, Sidney channeled her creativity into hand-making thousands of unique and beautiful greeting cards for every occasion—a hobby that led to new friendships and brought her great joy. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed reading, dogs, and time spent with her grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be held privately for family and friends.
