Obituary

Robert Gene Williams, affectionately known to many as Bob or Rob, who passed away unexpectedly at his home in Crestwood, Illinois, on September 8th, 2024. Born in Harvey, Illinois, on June 17th, 1974, Bob's journey through life has left an indelible mark on those who knew him, and his sudden departure has been deeply felt by his family, friends, and community.

Bob was predeceased by his father, Richard Potoski, and mother, Margaret Williams. He was a cherished brother to Donna Molina and her husband Roberto, Cynthia Romero, Raymond Potoski and his wife Lisa Matejka, Javier Williams and his wife Colleen Williams, and Miguel Campos. He also held close to his heart the memory of his brother Richard Potoski, who preceded him in death leaving behind wife Andi. He left behind many nieces and nephews. Bob's legacy continues through his beloved daughter, Tyger Williams, his son, Robert Williams, and his adoring grandchildren, Kameron, Wesley, Karma, and Adam. His life was further enriched by his special friend Rose and her son Travis, who were like family to him.

Professionally, Bob was best known for his role as a cook at the Thirsty Beaver, where he was not just an employee but a friend to all. His coworkers and patrons will remember him for his warm smile, infectious laugh, and the camaraderie he brought to the kitchen every day. His work was not just a job; it was a place where he brought joy and fulfillment to those around him.

Bob was a man of many passions, with a particular love for sports. He was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago White Sox, his loyalty to his teams unwavering through the highs and lows of each season. Bob's enthusiasm for his teams was contagious, and he was always ready to share in the excitement of the game with fellow fans.

In addition to his love for sports, Bob was a man who cherished the simple pleasures in life. His presence was a source of stability and warmth, and he had a unique ability to make everyone around him feel at ease. His laughter was a familiar sound at family gatherings, and he was always the first to lend a hand or a listening ear to anyone in need.

Bob's influence extended beyond his immediate circle, touching the lives of many through his kindness, humor, and generosity. He was a pillar in his community, known for his willingness to help out a neighbor or participate in local events. His absence will be deeply felt, but the memories he created will continue to bring comfort and smiles to those who were fortunate enough to know him.

As we say goodbye to Bob, we celebrate a life lived with love, laughter, and a deep commitment to family and friends. His journey on this earth may have ended, but his spirit will live on through the countless lives he touched.

Our thoughts are with Bob's family and friends during this time of mourning. As we reflect on his life, let us carry forward the light that he shone so brightly, and let it guide us in our own paths. Robert Gene Williams will be dearly missed, but never forgotten.
