Robert G. Parr, 86, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2020. Devoted husband to his late wife, Barbara V. Parr. Loving father of Rebecca and Carmen (Kim) Parr. Beloved grandfather to Chase and Austin Parr, and much-loved uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Also preceded in death by parents, Charles C. Parr and Angelina Porzio, sister Roselyn (the late Jerry) Vavra and brother Edward (the late Mary) Parr.
Bob was born in Chicago and attended Lane Tech High School. He worked as a lineman in the school's print room and ultimately the press area for the Chicago Tribune after graduation. He moved on to become a member of Teamsters Local 710 and a warehouse manager for many
years at Borg Mechanical. After living in New Lenox, Illinois, Bob and Barb retired to the Carillon Adult Community in Plainfield, Illinois where they became members of its choir and theater groups. He also worked there as a neighborhood security guard. One of Bob's favorite hobbies was cooking where no one could rival his homemade sausage and ravioli.
When asked if he was ready to go to heaven, Bob replied "Well, I put my jacket on didn't I?" Bob will be remembered for his kind heart, sense of humor and as a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Service will be private with interment in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood, IL.
