Obituary

Robert (Bob) Krone, a cherished and respected man, passed away peacefully on March 16, 2025, in Orland Park, IL, at the age of 98. He was born in Chicago, IL, on May 9, 1926. Bob's long and fulfilling life was marked by dedication to his family, his country, and his craft.

Beloved husband of the late Rosalie Krone, née Knytych, loving father of Robert W. (Laurene), Renee Coughlin (George), Regina Zoetvelt (William), and the late Rhonda Kuk (Steve). As a grandfather, he was loved by his 15 grandchildren and by his 10 great-grandchildren. Bob also held a special place in the hearts of his numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom benefited from his wisdom, humor, and kindness.

After graduating from Lindblom High School in 1944, Bob served his country with pride as a World War II veteran from 1944-1946. His time in the service instilled in him a sense of discipline and camaraderie that he carried throughout his life.

Returning from the war, Bob became a Stone Mason, a trade he would master as a Bricklayer for over 40 years. His skilled hands and strong work ethic were evident in the structures he helped build and the legacy of craftsmanship he left behind. Bob retired in 1991, leaving a trail of beautiful masonry across the region that stands as a testament to his talent and dedication.

Bob's interests were as robust and varied as his life experiences. A talented pianist, he found joy in playing music for his family. His love for boating was not only a pastime but a passion, one that led him to build his very own wooden boat. These moments spent on the lakes brought him immense pleasure and peace.

Family time was paramount to Bob, who always looked forward to gatherings with his wife and children.

Bob's life was a reflection of his values: hard work, resilience, and, most importantly, love. He built a family, a home, and a legacy that will endure through the generations. His warm smile, hearty laugh, and love will be profoundly missed by all who had the good fortune to know him.

We bid farewell to Robert (Bob) Krone, we celebrate a life well-lived, a journey well-traveled, and a man well-loved.
