Robert Martin
Franzen
Oct 2, 1949 — Jul 8, 2024
We come together today to celebrate the life of Robert Martin Franzen, affectionately known to friends and family as Bob, who passed away peacefully on July 8, 2024, in Des Plaines, Illinois. Born on October 2, 1949, in Chicago,
Bob's journey through life was marked by a vibrant passion for sports, a love for the outdoors, and the joy he found in the simple pleasures of life. Bob was a devoted fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Bears, his loyalty unwavering through every season. His enthusiasm for his teams was infectious, and he could often be found recounting historic plays with an encyclopedic knowledge of his favorite games. Beyond the stadium cheers, Bob embraced the outdoors with a zest for bike riding, taking to the trails with the same determination and spirit he brought to every endeavor. A formidable opponent at the ping pong table, Bob's competitive nature was always balanced by his warm sense of humor and fair play. His laughter and light-hearted banter will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of challenging him in a friendly match.
Bob's legacy is carried on by his loving family: his brother Michael; his daughter Ana; and his granddaughters, Audrey and Paige, who brought him immeasurable joy and pride. Though he joins his late parents, Michael and Florence, Bob's memory will continue to inspire and guide his family and friends.
Today, we honor a life well-lived, a man cherished by many, and a heart that beat true to the very end. Bob Franzen will be deeply missed, but his spirit will forever remain a part of the lives he touched.
