Robert Louis
Eskra Ii
Apr 2, 1968 — Jul 3, 2025
In Loving Memory of Robert Louis Eskra II
With heavy hearts, the family of Robert Louis Eskra II, of Chicago, Illinois, announces his passing on July 3, 2025, at the age of 57.
Born on April 2, 1968, to the late Robert and Constance Eskra, Robert lived a life grounded in connection, creativity, and humor. More than anything, he took pride in being a father to his son, Jonathan Eskra, who was the center of his world.
Robert had a sharp wit, a warm smile, and an easy way of making people feel at home. He was clever, quick with a joke, and always ready with a bit of playful banter. He had a knack for reading the room, knowing just when to lighten the mood or draw a laugh. Whether through dry sarcasm or a perfectly timed one-liner, he connected with people in a way that was both genuine and unforgettable.
That same attentiveness showed up in his creativity. Robert had a deep artistic spirit and a steady hand, especially when it came to arts and crafts. He found joy and calm in making beaded Native American jewelry, a meaningful expression of his heritage and the traditions he carried with pride.
Robert is survived by his loving son, Jonathan, and by his siblings:
* Catherine (Johnny) Duh
* The late Richard Eskra
* Sandra Bland-Slaby
* Sherri (Kenneth) Seggerson
* Jacqueline (Joel) Gumber
* Christi (William) Gumber
He was a proud uncle to:
* Ericka Crout
* Kyle (Jamie) Crout
* Mollee (Dillion) Harrison
* Madelyn (Benny) Guajardo
* Richard Eskra Jr.
* Connie Bland
* Scott (Jennifer) Bland
* Tyler Bland
* Samantha Seggerson
* Sidney Seggerson
* Sasha Seggerson
* Jamie Morgan
* James Morgan II
* Claire Gumber
* Maggie Gumber
* William Gumber
Robert was also a proud grand-uncle to many, and his caring spirit touched every generation of his family. His legacy lives on in their laughter, their stories, and the moments they continue to share.
Though his absence leaves a deep ache, his presence continues to be felt—in the way he made people laugh, the comfort he offered, and the love he gave so freely to those around him.
His spirit lives on, always in our hearts.
