Rita Mary (nee McNally) Devito, 76, of Orland Park, recently passed away unexpectedly.
Born on May 19, 1948 to James Patrick McNally Sr. and Della (nee Bridget Higgins) McNally. She grew up in Chicago and graduated from Lindbloom High School in 1966. Rita later attended Real Estate School because of her interest in home & design.
Rita had many passions and at the top of the list were animals. As a young woman, she ventured into the dog show world with her first Sheltie, Toby. This blossomed into a career of breeding and showing dogs. She was meticulous on their lineage, and because of this, she raised many Champions and has been awarded numerous Ribbons of Distinction. Rita was a member of the American Kennel Club (AKC ) both National and Local Chapters, as well as the American Shetland Sheepdog Association (ASSA) where she held many positions, as well as Chairwoman.
Other passions included Real Estate, Gardening, Traveling, Antique Shopping, Cooking and Dining out. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Survived by her Sister-in-Law, Barbara (nee Polnaszek) McNally, Nieces Linda (nee McNally) Wozniak (Jay) and children Morgan, Megan & Jake (Rachel) and their daughter Camryn,
Sharon (nee McNally) LeCoque (Jay) and children Taylor Bevis (Jennifer) and their daughter Hadley, Lexie (nee Bevis) Haft (Thomas) and their son Hudson and Connor LeCoque and her Nephew, James Patrick III (Danica) and their son Keaton.
She was preceded in death by her Parents and all of her siblings, Anna Marie McNally, Thomas Joseph McNally, James Edward McNally and James Patrick McNally Jr.
Rita's Memorial Service will be officiated by her nephew James Patrick McNally III, on her birthday, Monday, May 19t at The Wayside Chapel (12700 SW Hwy) Palos Park at 12:00pm (Noon), with a luncheon immediately following.
