Patricia K. Scannell, born January 17, 1946, in Chicago, IL, passed away on July 14, 2024, at 78 years old in Olympia Fields, IL.

Raised in a devout Irish-American family on Chicago's South Side, Patricia graduated from Mt. Assisi High School. Though she once considered becoming a nun, her greatest joy was being a mother. Patricia raised her children, Thomas (1965-1968) and Lisa Ann, with unwavering love and faith. In spite of being a single mother, she provided her daughter with the stability and care of a two-parent home, and the two of them developed an inseparable bond.

Patricia was a compassionate, fun-loving, loyal and strong woman who dedicated her time to her daughter and helping others. She was a fierce advocate for children in foster care, serving as a CASA volunteer in Pima County, AZ, and was recognized as Advocate of the Year by the Superior Courts of Arizona for her efforts. Professionally, she enjoyed a successful career as an insurance agent and licensed investment specialist with Prudential.

Many loved Patricia, including her lifelong friends who were extended family to her. She was forgiving and loved her sisters Kathy, Barbara (who passed away in 1993), and Judy (who died in 2011). Shw was an aunt and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews. Often her nieces and nephews referred to her as the "cool," "fun" aunt.

Above all, Patricia's faith in God was her guiding light. Despite many challenges, she lived a life of forgiveness, wrapped in grace and in service, and love.

Patricia was cremated according to her wishes. A memorial service is planned at St. Francis Woods in Frankfort, IL. Updates will be posted at patriciascannell.com.
