She was the beloved sister of Solita, who preceded her in death, and the cherished cousin of Shelia, Emily, Joyce, Kay, Paris, Sydney, Greg, Don, Eve, Steve, Natalie, and Lisa.Marti's formative years were spent in the corridors of Parker High School, where she graduated with the class of 1971.

Her passion for learning and community engagement led her to Northeastern University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1993. She served with distinction as the Executive Director of the West Humboldt Park Center for Performing Arts, where her vision and leadership left an indelible mark.
