Obituary

Dr. Mark A. Robinson transitioned on May 9, 2024 after an extended hospital and rehabilitation stay.

Mark Anthony Robinson was born on September 9, 1937 in Houston,Texas. Mark was the only son of the late Marguerite Robinson Pinckney and had two sisters, Carroll Anne Diggs and Ethel Jolivet, both deceased. Mark grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and attended school in the East Baton Rouge Parish. He earned a BS degree in Biology from Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He taught math and science in Slidell, Louisiana for 3 years. During the summer months, he worked as a "waiter" on a train that ran from Chicago to Los Angeles, California. He also taught courses at Tennessee A&I College. Mark graduated from Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry, Nashville Tennessee in 1967. After graduation, he interned at the University of Rochester, New York, in the Eastman Dental Clinic (general dentistry).

Dr.Robinson opened his practice in General Dentistry in Chicago Illinois with Dr. Hubert Dudley, a fellow Meharrian, in the early 70s. They were later joined by Dr. Hubert James, also a fellow Meharrian. Dr. Robinson retired from this practice in 2019. While in private practice, Mark worked for the Joliet Job Corps Program and was on staff at Michael Reese Hospital for many years.

Dr. Robinson was a member of several organizations. These include:

Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated, Chicago Chapter ,National Alumni Association of Meharry Medical College, Southern University Alumni Association, The Midwesterners, Chicago Dental Society (Director: Kenwood/Hyde Park Branch-3yrs), Knights of Columbus, Knights of St Peter Claver (Louisiana).

Mark's time on this earth, with us, was a blessing and joy to all those

whose lives he touched and all those who loved him. He showed compassion, genuine care and concern for his patients. His outgoing and vibrant personality was an enduring trait of the man they called,"Dr. Rob".

His "Light" will be deeply missed.

To cherish his memory, Mark leaves his loving wife of 54 years, Carole, son, Dr Clifton Robinson ( Jennifer ). Grandchildren : Rebecca, Michael, Emily, Matthew, Noah, Olivia, Grace and Isaac, several nieces, nephews, cousins and many loving friends.
