Manuel Ramirez
Barrientos Jr.
May 1, 1949 — May 30, 2026
In Loving Memory of
Manuel (Manny) Ramirez Barrientos Jr.
Manny, 77, was born on May 1, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Manuel Sr. and Elaine Barrientos. He was suddenly called home to Christ on May 30, 2026, leaving behind a family who loved him deeply and a community he was honored to serve.
Manny honorably served his country in the United States Army's 82nd Airborne Division. He was also a police officer for the City of Blue Island Police Department and later dedicated many years to the Blue Island Public Works Department, where he remained until retirement. He was also a longtime member of the American Legion and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, where he enjoyed the camaraderie and fellowship of fellow veterans.
More than any title or career, Manny was a faithful, devoted, and loving husband and family man. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were among the greatest joys of his life. He loved spending time with them, watching them play, cheering them on, and celebrating their accomplishments. Some of his happiest moments were simply being present with the people he loved most.
Manny also had a special love for his six cats, whose companionship brought him comfort and happiness throughout the years. His affection for animals reflected the gentle and caring nature that family and friends knew so well.
Though his passing was sudden and unexpected, the love he shared and the memories he created will live on. He will be remembered as a proud veteran, a dedicated public servant, and a loving man whose greatest happiness came from his family.
Manny was preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Sr. and Elaine Barrientos; his daughter, Malena Barrientos; his granddaughter, Violet Marie Barrientos; and his brothers, Richard Barrientos and Daniel Barrientos.
His legacy lives on through his wife, Jeanne Barrientos; his siblings, Juanita Biernat, Porfiria (William) Salins, and JoAnn Flynn (Edward, deceased); and his children, Manuel Adam Barrientos, Anthony (Diane) Barrientos, Lance Barrientos, Kimberly (Miguel) Hoffman, Keith (Christina) Hoffman, and Juan Jr. (Elena) Esparza, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of all who knew him.
May he rest in eternal peace.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 14, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Fraternal Order of Eagles #1332, located at 2427 Grove Street, Blue Island, Illinois 60406.
