Liesel Magierek was born in Krefeld, Germany, at the outset of World War II. She lived through a time of extraordinary global change, immigrating to the United States through Ellis Island in 1953. She spent most of her life in the U.S. and eventually became a longtime resident of Chicago's Gold Coast.

She had a lifelong love of horses and the outdoors, and was a devoted supporter of the arts.

She is survived by her children: Lisa Jones, Duane ("Davy") Jones and his wife Rachel, Pauli Phillips and her husband Adrian, and Guy Magierek, as well as five grandchildren: Madeline Brock, Camerin Plew, Bailey Plew, Carson Plew, and Carrera Jones.

In accordance with her wishes, no formal services will be held. The family asks for privacy at this time.
