Obituary

Kylin Romaal Bursey, affectionately known as Ky to his beloved friends and family, was a shining beacon of light whose time on earth was a testament to laughter, love, and the sheer joy of living. Born on June 22, 1990, in the bustling city of Chicago, IL,

Kylin's journey through life was marked by an unwavering passion and a zest that illuminated the lives of all who knew him. Tragically, his life's journey came to an untimely end on April 30, 2024, in Gary, IN. The pain of his departure is deeply felt, but the legacy of his spirit endures and continues to inspire.Ky's story is one that defies the boundaries of mere existence, soaring into the realm of exceptional impact. He completed his schooling with a spirit full of ambition and the will to transform every challenge into an opportunity. As a skilled mechanic and an aspiring entrepreneur,

Kylin dedicated himself to excellence, showcasing a talent for breathing new life into the machines he worked on, just as he did with the people around him. His hands, which could skillfully restore engines to their purring glory, were the same hands that built and fortified the bonds of friendship and family throughout his life. The echoes of his laughter still resonate, a remembrance of a man who found humor to be a lifeline. Ky had the unique gift of cracking jokes that could unravel the tightest of frowns into joyful smiles. Dancing to the rhythm of life, he would often be seen grooving to his favorite tunes or rapping to the beat of his own unwavering spirit, sharing his love for music with all those around him. Each movement, each melody was a celebration—an affirmation of the joy he found in every moment. But perhaps the most profound of Kylin's interests was his devotion to family. He was the epitome of a loving brother, father, and partner. His mother, Dyemeka Bursey; his devoted sisters, Brittany Dunner, Ashley Howell; his brothers, Amari and Cordaro Bursey; along with his father, Daniel Booker, his God mother Carole Dibo, and his extended family, shone as the stars in his galaxy. Each family member was vital to him, a precious relationship he cherished deeply. In the arms of his fiancée, Shawntel Rice, Kylin found a kindred spirit and a partner in every sense. With the birth of his children, Kylin Bursey Jr., Naveah, Kyrin, Evolon, Rakeem, and Jai'Da Rice, he embraced the profound role of fatherhood, each day infused with love and lessons that would guide his children long into the future. Kylin's community was a tapestry of connections, embracing those he considered his brothers and sisters through love and loyalty, such as Garrasche Booker, Wayne Wicks, Jason Morris, Bryon Hill, April Lawshea, Traci Sprouts, and Peaches Williams and plenty more. A lot more !!

With a heart as vast as the ocean, he made room for everyone, his love knowing no boundaries. To define Kylin by the mere words "funny," "loving," and "passionate" would be to only scratch the surface of his character. He was a beacon of boundless energy, encouraging everyone to savor each tick of the clock with a resolve that only love can craft. The essence of his spirit is captured in the words of Maya Angelou, who said, "Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud." Kylin embodied this sentiment in every interaction, every shared moment, and every life he touched. In the sorrow of his leave-taking, we are reminded that the best of what we are lives on in those we inspire.

Kylin's life, though cut short, will forever dance in the memories of those who knew him and in the ripple of his influence that will never cease. As we honor his spirit, may we too find the courage to live passionately, love deeply, and laugh heartily, just as Kylin Romaal Bursey did.
