Obituary

Kenneth Gordon Sirgiovanni was born on January 15th, 1960, in Boston, Massachusetts, to his mother and father, Eleanor and Charles Sirgiovanni. He was the youngest of four boys and siblings to George, Robert, and Charles Sirgiovanni. While growing up, he quickly earned the nickname Kenny. Kenny grew up as a fun, loving, and adventurous person. He was raised in East Brunswick, New Jersey. He moved to Chicago, Illinois, in his early twenties, where he met the mother of his children, Meemee Ortiz, in the fall of 1991. The two dated for a couple of years and had their first son, Dominic, in 1993, second son Joseph in 1998, third son Louie in 2001, and fourth son Luke in 2004. Kenny lived a fulfilled and meaningful life surrounded by his loved ones and family. A funny and charismatic person who enjoyed life to the fullest while never taking anything too seriously. It is with a heavy heart that we announce his peaceful passing on Saturday, December 13th, 2025, in Chicago, Illinois.

Kenny graduated from The College of New Jersey. He earned a bachelor's degree in business administration with a love for architecture, art, and photography. During his career, he worked as an Advertising and Marketing Specialist for a pharmaceutical company. When he was not working, he was a frequent volunteer at his children's grade school. A devout Catholic, he made sure all four of his children received the sacraments of Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation. He took his children to weekly Mass on Saturday nights and made sure they all served the Church as altar boys. He volunteered his time and energy to his children and the greater community in many ways. Kenny was a basketball coach, a parishioner, a Cub Scout leader, and a mentor to everyone. He earned the "Man of the Year" award in 2016 for his outstanding level of service and commitment to his children's grade school and community. Kenny was also a physically and mentally tough person, having beaten cancer twice, once in 2012 and again in 2024.

Kenny had a variety of hobbies and interests. He spent time remodeling his home, like painting the entire interior and exterior of the house. He loved spending time outside in the backyard by doing tasks such as gardening and maintaining the upkeep of the pool. His favorite hobby was tinkering with his cars. He owned a black 1989 Firebird Trans Am, a red 1971 Pontiac GTO, and a black 2005 Porsche Boxster. He was a foodie who enjoyed cooking as much as he enjoyed eating. Italian food was his favorite. His famous dish was homemade lasagna that he would make every Christmas Eve. Kenny was also a thrill seeker, from fast muscle cars to water slides and roller coasters. He took his family on vacation every year. Florida was his favorite vacation spot for fishing trips and amusement park visits. He was a die-hard fan of the New England Patriots and the Chicago Bulls. He shared his love of sports with his children when they were young. His children went on to play multiple sports in grade school and high school.

The legacy and memories that Kenny has left behind will forever be treasured by his family and loved ones. He inspired and positively affected those around him. The most important time that Kenny spent was with his family. He ensured that his family and everyone else around him were always taken care of. His favorite quote was "keep it in the family." He was a man who protected, loved, and cherished his family. Kenny, thank you for the example you have set for all of us and for living a life worth remembering. Rest easy with God in heaven, Kenny.

Dad, we got it from here.
