Kathleen
Marlin
Jun 30, 1946 — Sep 20, 2022
Kathleen "Buscia" Marlin was born on June 30th, 1946 and grew up in what is now
unincorporated Lincolnshire. Diagnosed with late-stage pancreatic cancer late July, 2022 Buscia
passed away peacefully on September 20th, 2022 at her daughter Susan's home with her son
Steven and daughter Susan by her side. During the weeks leading up to her passing she was
surrounded by loved ones.
Her upbringing by her late parents, Thelma and Robert Tagtmeier, was wholesome, loving and
engendered a free-spirited temperament that began to blossom when she graduated from Ela
Vernon High School in 1964. Buscia married young and started her family at the age of 18.
This was only the beginning of her story. Throughout her life she lived by her own rules and
spent countless hours learning about whatever she could get her hands on. From gardening to
psychology, tailoring to metaphysics, geology to folklore she put all of herself into the crafts she
pursued. It was this independence and endless pursuit for knowledge and worldly (or
otherworldly) experiences that kept her on the move. She spent the majority of her life
traveling and gathering these things within herself, then passed what she learned on to the
ones she loved.
For her children and grandchildren, she was an ever flowing source of inspiration. She was our
Gandalf, our Obi-Wan, and our Dumbledore. Always there to share another adventure with us
or wisdom in time of need. An encyclopedic mind of music, movies and crystals, spending time
with Buscia was always wholesome, educating, and wonderful. With a sarcastic remark or two
along the way, of course. Likely her greatest achievement was instilling that same need for
independence in all of us. At the very least we know she took pride in the fact that we, too,
have a tendency to be as cheeky as she.
Buscia is survived by her son Steven (Melora) Spriggs, daughter Susan (Edward) Clarke,
granddaughter Arianne, grandson Ryan, grandson Alexander, grandson Sean, granddaughter
Katharine, great granddaughter Anastasia, great grandson Finnan, brother Scott, sister Liza,
