Karol
Moller
Nov 9, 1934 — Aug 11, 2025
Karol Moller (née Klima), 90, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 11, 2025. Born on November 9, 1934, Karol devoted 26 years to her career as a dedicated schoolteacher, inspiring and guiding generations of students with her warmth, intelligence, and patience.
She raised her family in suburban Crystal Lake, Illinois, earned a master's degree in education, and traveled extensively throughout her life. Karol loved nature deeply and maintained a strong concern for the environment. She began recycling at home in the 1970s, long before it became a widespread practice, demonstrating her early commitment to conservation and sustainability.
In her later years, Karol resided at The Clare in downtown Chicago, where she led a vibrant and engaged life. She served as leader of the Green Team, an internal environmental group, participated in two book clubs, served on the dining committee, played bridge, and joined in the community's exercise group. Karol also devoted much of her time to volunteering, including reading to schoolchildren, serving meals to the underprivileged, distributing programs at theatrical performances, and assisting others with their taxes. She was frugal in the way she lived and charitable to others, giving generously of her time and resources to causes and people in need.
Karol is survived by her sister, Barbara Marine; her daughter, Julie Guida, son-in-law John, their daughter Angelina and Angelina's husband Max; her son, Scott Moller, his children Jack and Ana, and Scott's former wife Julie; and her son, James Moller, daughter-in-law Suzanne, and their children Grace and Keith. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Moller, and her son, Keith Moller.
Karol will be remembered for her sharp mind, generous spirit, and the joy she found in learning, connecting, and serving others. A memorial service will be held at First Saint Paul's Lutheran Church, 1301 N LaSalle Drive, Chicago, IL 60610 on Friday, August 22 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the First Saint Paul's Community Meal program located at the same address as the church.
