Obituary

Julie Lindem-Somen, a loving wife, mother, and dear friend to all who knew her, passed away at the age of 67 from cancer. As her husband and life partner of 50 years, I can attest to the warmth and care she extended to everyone in her life.

Julie is survived by her husband, Mark, and her son, Jacob Michael. She was preceded in death by her son, Joshua Aaron. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Robert James, and her sister, Michelle. She is survived by her sisters, Colleen and Katie, as well as many nieces, nephews, and grandchildren. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Diane Lindem.

Growing up on the Near North Side of Chicago, in what is now Lincoln Park, Julie developed the independence that defined her throughout her life. In her early years, she worked in the dietary department of Ravenswood Hospital before dedicating her life to her family as a devoted homemaker and mother.

Julie was a woman of many passions. She had a lifelong love for horticulture and found great joy in tending to her plants. An inquisitive and voracious reader, she particularly enjoyed crime and drama fiction. Her musical tastes were broad, ranging from the soft rock that first brought her and Mark together to soul, R&B, and classic rock bands like the Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin.

Above all, Julie's life was defined by her devotion to her family.

She will be forever loved and missed by all who knew her.
