Juan Jose
Medina
Jan 13, 1963 — Feb 3, 2026
Our beloved Juan Jose Medina, lovingly known as Juan to his friends and family, passed away on February 3, 2026, in Cape Coral, Florida after a courageous battle with cancer. Born to the world on January 13, 1963, in the city of Chicago, Illinois, Juan lived a life marked by warmth, laughter, and generosity. He was the center of light and love to all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
Juan's early life in Chicago laid the foundation for his enduring love of baseball, specifically the Chicago Cubs. Baseball was a passion that he nurtured throughout his time at Northeastern Illinois University, where he proudly played for the Golden Eagles. His competitive spirit on the field was matched only by his camaraderie and sportsmanship off it.
Juan's philosophy of life was one of kindness, mindfulness, and joy, which he shared generously with everyone he met.
Juan's heart was always with his family. He leaves behind his beloved mother, Rafaela Medina, and the love of his life, his fiancé Violanda Sanchez Martinez. His sisters, Estella, Leticia, Marina, and Flor, will remember their brother as the funny and loving man who always had time for a joke or a hug. His four nieces and seven nephews knew him as the fun uncle, the one who could always be counted on for a laugh and unwavering support. Juan also leaves behind his stepsons, Armando and Anthony Martinez. Juan met them when they were young boys and was a great role model to both.
Juan's interests extended beyond the baseball diamond. He had a passion for music. Juan was involved with the Chicago Latin music industry. He cherished time spent with his family and his loyal dog, Lilo, who was a constant companion and source of joy in his life.
Those who knew Juan will remember him as the embodiment of love, humor, and generosity. His ability to light up a room with his smile and to lift the spirits of others with his infectious laughter will be dearly missed. Juan's legacy is one of love and laughter, of giving more than he received, and of making every moment count.
As we begin to say goodbye to Juan Jose Medina, we celebrate a life lived fully and with an open heart. His memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him, and his spirit will live on in the stories shared by his family and friends. Juan's journey through life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and kindness. He will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will forever be cherished by all who loved him.
