Joyce M. O'Mara, 87, passed away on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at The Moorings of Arlington Heights, Illinois.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 5 at 10:00 AM in The Moorings Chapel and a Celebration of Life Service will follow at 11:00 AM. Refreshments will be served after the service in The Moorings Harbor Room. Address: 811 East Central Road, Arlington Heights, Illinois 60005.

Joyce was born in Seattle, Washington, to parents Mayer (Mick) and Helen Enabnit. Joyce grew up in Des Moines, Iowa, and attended North High School and then Drake University. After that she joined TWA as a stewardess. While flying she met her husband John (Jack) O'Mara, a Navy pilot, and they were married and had two daughters.

Jack and Joyce raised their family in Arlington Heights, Illinois, where Joyce was very active in church, serving on Session and on many committees. She was a lifelong choir member.

Joyce's passion in life was her family. She was an excellent homemaker and decorator and was very involved in her daughters' activities; making dance costumes and attending performances. Joyce was wise, artistic, a wordsmith, musically inclined, enjoyed reading and spending quality time with family and friends. Joyce loved being a grandmother. She was a great listener and gave sound advice. Joyce's wittiness, warmth and loving support will be so missed.

Joyce was predeceased by her husband Jack and is survived by her brother Phil Enabnit of Des Moines, Iowa, and by her daughters Melanie (Barry) Kohn of Kildeer, Illinois, and Holly O'Mara of Chicago, Illinois, and by two grandchildren John (Jack) Kohn and Reilly Kohn, and by numerous nieces and nephews.
