Joseph Victor Bomba passed away on January 16, 2026 at Illinois Masonic Hospital.
For 60 years he managed Juvenile Diabetes (Type 1) and a life marked by his intelligence and compassion. A natural leader, Joe graduated in 1966 from Capital Page School in Washington, D.C.. He was class president and valedictorian. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Haverford College, Pennsylvania in 1970. In 1976, he earned a Juris Doctor degree from DePaul University in Chicago.During his career in public law, Joe was known for his willingness to share insights and knowledge with junior attorneys. He became Legal Director of the Cook County Legal Assistance Foundation in 1980. His presence in court was formidable when he represented the poor and later when he was a private attorney.
Joe's legacy is a life well-lived. He is survived by sister Rita Bomba Thuot, brother Thomas F. Bomba, sister Maria Bomba and brother-in-law Thomas Weber, niece Rachel (Russell) Harmon, niece Danielle Thuot, nephew Christopher (Jamie) Thuot, nephew Philip (Alexandra) Weber, nephew Glen Weber, nephew Robert Weber, 3 great-nieces and 2 great-nephews.As we bid farewell to Joseph Victor Bomba, we honor a man whose passing is a profound loss to the legal community and to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
