Jorge A. Lopez, 76, of Callao, Peru passed away on January 16, 2023 in Chicago, Illinois after battling cancer for 12 years. He leaves behind his sons Jorge R. Lopez (Janelle Van Pelt), Benjamin Lopez, Isaiah Ramos, and daughters Carla Lopez (Ahmed Bakhashab) and Sheila Lopez, brother Enrique Lopez, his first wife Gregoria Alvarez and second wife Annette Hernandez as well as grandchildren Mia and Mohammed.

Jorge graduated as an Economist in Lima, Peru from the Universidad de Ingenieria. In 1997 he moved with his family to Chicago, Illinois seeking a better life for his family. He divorced and remarried in Chicago and had three more children.

Jorge was passionate about Peruvian criolla music and enjoyed dining in Peruvian restaurants and eating Cau Cau, Seco Verde, anticuchos (beef heart) as well as American food such as Italian beef, lasagna, and tacos. He also enjoyed visiting the Chicago Public library and taking books home to read.

He was greatly admired by family and friends for his sense of humor, intelligence, and curiosity to keep learning. He was greatly loved and will be consequently greatly missed.
