Obituary

John Mckenzie Donohue, 89, sailed away towards his final adventure, May 2, 2026.

John was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mickie, his sister Mary, sister in law Claudia, and his parents Gene and Ginny Donohue. John will be missed by all who knew him, especially by his three daughters and their husbands, Sally (Jerry) Courtney, Kathleen (Joel) Carey, and Betsy (Dave) Allen, and his six grandchildren: McKenzie, Emmett, Sophia, Jack, Genevieve and Riley. John had many roles in his life in addition to being an Attorney for over 50 years. He was a captain in the Air Force, a District 202 school board president, Founder of the ETHS Alumni Association, tireless community volunteer, YMCA Board member, referee, coach, counselor, boat wrangler and Commander of the Fleet at his beloved Camp Echo. Other titles he cherished included: brother, son, uncle, mentor, and perhaps his favorite, Boompah! John is also survived by his brothers, Jim (Suzy) and Bill Donohue, countless nieces and nephews, and numerous other folks who were lucky enough to have him step in as their Boompah too. We know the sun is on his face and the wind is at his back because according to him, "It's always a great day for a sail."
