John worked as an architect and designer in his company House & Dodge in San Diego, CA. He was passionate about sailing and racing. He created the world around him with his hands. Wether it was crafting a new dining room table or completely redesigning his mid century modern home on the bluff over the San Diego bay. He grew up in Villa Park, IL. He attended St. Pius Grade School and Montini High School in Lombard IL. After graduating high school he studied at Marquette University in Wisconsin, IIT in Chicago and finished his education in San Diego at the New School of Architecture.

As a father, John loved being with his kids and showing them how to have fun. Sometimes it was a late school-night session of playing goldeneye on Nintendo 64. Other times it was skiing down the mountains of Park City Utah. He was very supportive of his children and loved them very much.

He spent his most recent years living in Chicago. He enjoyed long walks around the city, sessions of meditation under the trees downtown and expensive steak dinners at his favorite restaurant, Gibsons Steakhouse.

John had many passions. But no matter what he chose to focus on, whether it was raising his children, sailboat racing, building custom speakers or cooking his favorite roasted duck. He strived for perfection. Nothing he did was done halfway.

Whatever category of life he dove into, he wanted to not just succeed but succeed in the top 5 percentile.

He always said "Why bother attempting anything unless you give it your all!"…This was very admirable of him and it was a huge part of the John we knew.
