Joan "Totsie" Goodman, a woman who could roller skate circles around the rest of us and make us laugh while doing it, has taken her final bow on the grand stage of life. Born on January 21, 1935, Totsie always had a knack for finding the humor in any situation. She passed away on May 24, 2023, in Chicago, IL, after a life filled with love, laughter, and generosity. She was 88.

Her husband of over 50 years, Mark Goodman, preceded her in death, but their love story lives on in the hearts of their children and grandchildren. Totsie is survived by her children, Maura Goodman (Bryan Niedelson), Mia Rubenstein (Gary) and Mark Goodman (Dr. Nipa Shah). Her grandchildren Zuri, Nima, Aaron, Carl & Golda will surely carry on her legacy.

She graduated from Roosevelt University while raising 3 young children and working full time. Little did she know that her passion for learning would eventually lead her to become a stock analyst in the financial industry for over 40 years. She worked her way up from secretary to Vice President.

A lifelong Hyde Parker, Totsie had a passion for collecting, reading, and attending the opera and symphony. Her collection of rare oddities and memorabilia was a favorite topic of her friends and family.

So, as we say our final goodbyes, let us remember her not with tears, but with laughter. After all, it's what she would have wanted. As her roller skates gather dust and her seat at the opera sits empty, we can take comfort in knowing that her spirit lives on in the hearts and minds of all those she touched. Services private.
