Obituary

With heavy hearts, the family of Jeffrey Allen Castillo announces the passing of their dear brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. Jeffrey was born January 3, 1967, and was just 3 weeks old before the great snowstorm hit Illinois. His childhood was spent with his siblings in Bensenville, IL. Many happy memories were shared in this small town outside of Chicago, IL. He was 57 years old and passed away peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, June 26, 2025. He was loved by all who knew him and will be sorely missed.

Jeffrey was preceded in death by our mother, Lillian (Paredes) Castillo and father, Conrad P. Castillo, maternal grandparents, Lorenzo and Maria Paredes, paternal grandparents Quctomac and Aline Castillo.

Jeffery is survived by his loving brother, Stephen P. Castillo and older sister, Christina (Chavez-Castillo) Elg (Brian). Also surviving Jeffrey are numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews who loved him immensely. Victoria (Kress) Kolasa, Kyla (Castillo), Mark and Brianne Elg, and James and Jamie Elg. He was the proud great uncle of Joseph, Mia, Lorenzo, Lily, Charlie, Elliana, McKenzie and Evander Elg. At holidays, he could be found enjoying the kids playing and finding the best picture book for them. Jeffrey was a proud member of our loving family that extended to Curtis and Hilde Elg, CJ and Jeannie Johnson, Douglas and Corrine Elg, and Kathy and Dan Katz. Jeffrey is also survived by many loving cousins.

Jeffrey's memory will live on through his family and anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He had a love of public transit and taking the bus or train to see his family and friends. He had a passion for the arts and could be found enjoying poetry, reading, writing, and sketching. He was known as an artist to those closest to him and an exceptional listener. He enjoyed hearing stories from his family and listening to national news. Jeffrey was not without challenges and hurdles to overcome in his lifetime, yet he remained kind and caring. He was tender-hearted and had a robust and unmistakable laugh that could fill a room. He will be fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Jeffrey's family will be hosting a private celebration of life to honor him. For anyone who would like to, donations can be made to Thresholds where Jeffrey spent his adult life in lieu of flowers. Here is the website for donations: Thresholds
