Obituary

Jacob David Reberger, fondly known as Jake, passed away on November 3, 2023, at the age of 27. Born on January 24, 1996, in Elk Grove Village, IL, Jake was a carefree, funny, adventurous person who loved others deeply. His unexpected passing in Chicago, IL- due to a traumatic brain injury- has left a void in our hearts.

Jake was full of laughter and curiosity. His sense of humor could light up the darkest place, and his ability to connect with people from all walks of life was a testament to his compassionate and open-hearted nature.

When Jake was younger, he was willing to try anything- he laughed often, listened to rock n' roll, and played baseball. His favorite colors were blue and green, he loved spicy food, and he could draw better than anyone else in the room. There was always a smile on his face and children made his heart happy- holding a baby and playing with kids made him feel joy.

As an adult, Jake struggled with addiction. Regardless, he would give the shirt off his back for a person in need. Meeting new people was his devotion, and he accepted all walks of life. Adventure followed him every single day, and he never shied away from life, no matter how hard it became at times.

Jake is preceded in death by his father, Brandon Reberger, and his legacy is carried forward by his devoted mother, Christine Childers, and his beloved siblings, Jessica, Trevor, and William Reberger. His nieces, nephew, and remaining family will forever cherish the joy and laughter he brought into our lives.

As we say farewell to Jake, we celebrate the remarkable impact he made in his short time with us. His stories will be told with laughter and his absence felt with deep love. The memories he created will be treasured as precious gifts, reminders of the profound beauty of life despite the struggles it brings.

Jake chose to be an organ donor- a remarkable decision that has already positively impacted others in need. His donation serves as a beautiful reminder of hope.

Jake's departure from this world is not just a loss but also a reminder to embrace life with the same kindness, humor, and adventurous spirit that he personified. His was a life that, though brief and imperfect, was lived creating an indelible mark on everyone he encountered.

In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to Ministry of Hope, an organization that Jake cherished and was a part of. Donations can be sent to Cross & Crown Lutheran Church, 1122 W. Rand Rd, Arlington Heights, IL 60004. Please make all checks out to "Cross & Crown Lutheran Church" with a memo of "Ministry of Hope."
