With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Ilene Barbara Shaw, who left us peacefully on August 23, 2024, at the age of 77. Private family service will be held.

She is survived by her brother, Bruce Shaw, four nieces, Lisa Ekman, Julie Ekman, Stephanie Erickson, and Jessica Shaw, two nephews, David Jimenez-Ekman, and Zachary Shaw, and her cousin Fred Kagan.

Ilene was a woman of remarkable intellect and boundless wit, known for her sharp mind and infectious humor. She loved to tell stories and added her unique humor.

Born on June 17th, 1947 in Chicago, Ilene's brilliance was evident from a young age. She pursued a career in the early days of computer technology with employment at IBM. Her hobbies included gardening and collecting glass sculptures. Ilene was a huge Chicago Bears fan and attended many home games using the Shaw family season tickets in the 80s. Her nieces have fond memories of sharing soup and hot chocolate from her thermoses to keep warm at frigid games at Soldier Field.

She faced life's challenges with grace and humor, embodying the belief that laughter is a powerful remedy for life's struggles.
