Dr. Horatio Weah Williams, dedicated professor and scholar, died on May 20, 2026 in Chicago, Illinois six days short of his 79th birthday.

Dr. Williams is survived by his daughter Tiade Williams and a large extended family. He is preceded in death by his daughter Kedda Williams, sisters Elizabeth Williams and Charlotte Williams, Parents Laura Tucker and Hon. Charles H. Williams and grandmother Hon. Elizabeth K. Collins.

Born in Liberia and educated in the United States from the age of 12, he obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, a master's degree from the University of the West Indies in Jamaica and a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago.

His academic career began in Liberia at Cuttington College. Following completion of his doctorate at the University of Chicago, he went on to become professor of political science at Sarah Lawrence College and later taught at various SUNY and CUNY universities in New York. At each institution he was well liked and respected by his students.
