HERMAN LEE SANFORD was born on April 30, 1952 to Essie and James Sanford in Hayti, Missouri. He was the eighth child of their thirteen children. Herman was raised and nurtured in a loving and safeguarded home. He attended Mt. Olive MB Church in Hayti, where he faithfully attended with his mother and siblings. Herman was educated at Central Elementary School and Hayti High School in Hayti, where he was on the basketball team and graduated in 1970. Upon graduation, Herman moved to Chicago, Illinois where he joined the employment workforce and also went to trade school. Places of employment were Spiegels, Firestone, Sara Lee Bakery, Schultz and Burt's Bakery and the University of Illinois. Herman was a jack of all trades, but his compassion was the love of cars where he became a mechanic and could work on any type of cars. Herman was married to Denise Sanford and from that union a baby girl was born, Cheryl Sanford, the love and pride of his life. Later upon his divorce, he met Jerri Taylor and from this union was born two daughters, Jennifer Sanford and Jennisis Sanford who was also the love of his life and who took care of him until he made his transition from life. He will be deeply missed by those who will often reflect on the times spent with him including; three daughters Cheryl Sanford, Jennifer Sanford and Jennisis Sanford all of Chicago, Illinois, siblings: Richard (Doris) Neal of Lancaster, Texas; Jimmy (Earnestine) Neal of Rocky Mount, North Carolina; Lloyd Sanford and Blanche Simmons of Gary, Indiana; Sharon Webster of Indianapolis, Indiana; Marilyn Sanford of Hayti, Missouri; Dakarae' Sanford of Brooklyn New York and Irma Sanford of Douglasville, Georgia; brother-in-law, Willie Tate and a host of four generations of nieces and nephew and other relatives, family and friends. Those who made the transition before him included parents, Essie and James Sanford; siblings: Willie Charles Sanford, Ovea Jean Tate, Vivian Sanford and Ruby Neal; along with three brother-in-laws; Charles Simmons, Edgar Webster and Robert Neal.
