Obituary

On June 8, 2025, Grace Colleen DeMann was born, bursting into the world at only 24 weeks and five days gestation. She came out of the womb so small, so fragile, and so loved. She responded to her parents' voices, the singing and prayers of family members, and the care of her medical team. She held firmly onto her father's finger. Her heart rate steadied when she lay against her mother's chest. She was strong and resilient and a fighter. But, throughout the week, Grace's body weakened and her organs began shutting down. For 6 days, she fought bravely in a battle that she did not choose. On Saturday, June 14, Grace Colleen made her peaceful transition from this world into the eternal presence of God. She brought an incredible amount of light and love into this world. Although her time with us was far too short, she left an impact not only on her family but on all who cared for her, as well.

Derek and Sydney, along with their extended families, are forever grateful for the care and support that they received at the NICU within Prentice Women's Hospital and with the resources provided to them through the Ronald McDonald House.
