George
Rusew
Mar 3, 1964 — Jun 30, 2025
George Rusew, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a deep and immeasurable void in the lives of those who loved him. A man full of heart, humor, and spirit, George lived life with energy, curiosity, and love and his memory will be cherished forever.
Born in Bulgaria, George proudly served in the Bulgarian Navy before building a life in Chicago, Illinois. A lifelong learner, he was fluent in multiple languages and had a deep love for history. He was also a devoted Chicago sports fan and an avid fisherman who found joy and peace by the water.
George had a zest for life. He loved to travel, especially to the Dominican Republic, cook delicious meals, dance with joy, and share laughter with those around him. He was the kind of person who made you feel instantly welcome and always knew how to have a good time.
Family was everything to George. He adored spending time with his wife, sons, and daughter-in-law and held a deep connection to his roots and extended family in Bulgaria. He is survived by his loving wife, Jadwiga; his sons, Gracjan (Emily) and Adrian; his brother Rusy; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins in Bulgaria.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Petar Rusev Zhechev and Ivanka Georgieva Zhecheva, as well as his former wife, Dorota, the devoted mother of his sons, with whom he shared a beautiful family.
George was and always will be incredibly loved and deeply missed by his family and friends.
There are some people in this world who are simply unforgettable. George was one of them, and we will cherish him always.
