Gary Lee Sandstrom, a cherished family man and respected veteran passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 19, 2024, at the age of 81 in Aurora, IL.

Gary proudly served his country in both the Marines and the Navy. His service was a significant and defining chapter in his life. After his honorable discharge, Gary found solace in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid fan of old westerns, enjoyed reading and took up different hobbies such as photography and painting.

Gary enjoyed planning activities at family gatherings and had a gift for storytelling. He would draw on his seemingly endless array of experiences to entertain his family and friends. He was outgoing with the ability to make friends very easily; a kind and generous man who enriched the lives of those around him.

Gary's passing leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of those who knew him. He is survived by his wife (JoAnn), his daughter (Winona), his stepchildren Barb (Jon), Bonnie (Lonnie), Mike (Lisa), his grandchildren Ian, Nickolas, Ryan, Jeff, Jared, Jordan, Taylor and Brett and many great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Little Gary.
