Fredrick Whitehead Bugg, 49, of Hillside, Illinois, passed away on December 30, 2022. Originally from Park Forest, Illinois. Fred also lived in Downers Grove, Aurora, Illinois and spent the pandemic in Chicago. While in Chicago, Fred was a good neighbor and was often seen filling the little free library boxes with cans of food.
Fred was born at St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights, Illinois to Joseph Harris Bugg and Floretha Ivylee Whitehead Bugg on July 12, 1973. He attended school at Illinois and Indiana Elementary, O.W.Huth Jr. High and Rich Central High School. While at Rich Central Fred wrestled, played football and sang in the choir. After high school Fred served in the Army and was a armor crewman (tanker). He also participated as part of the United Nations Peacekeeping forces. Fred earned the rank of Sergeant and was awarded numerous medals including the Overseas Service Award and two United Nations medals. After serving his country Fred attended and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Sciences from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
Fred loved sports, The Cubs, good food, fishing, good music, good movies, a lifelong Trekkie (Star Trek), Da Bears, a good poker game and lots of other good things. Fred was a loyal person with a big heart and would do anything for his family and his friends that he treated as family. Fred loved and was very proud of his nieces and nephew.
Fred is preceded in death by his father, Joseph H. Bugg, his mother Floretha W. Bugg, his grandmother Florina W. Scurlock and his grandfather Frederick P. Scurlock.
Fred is survived by his sister LaDonna Bugg Carr, his sister Lois Bugg Shadrick (Edward), his brother Edward Bugg (Beth), his niece Elizabeth Bugg, his niece and goddaughter Kai Buggandhis nephew Drew Bugg. Fred never met a stranger and has a host of family and friends across the country and around the world that will miss him.
Memorials may be given to The American Heart Association, The American Cancer Association And the Disabled Veteran Association.
The Carr, Bugg and Shadrick family wish to extend our sincere thanks to Fred's primary physician Dr. Glenn Weiss and all the veteran services offered by Hines Hospital.
