Fred was born on November 26th, 1934 to Fred and Marie Barbara Urban in Irvington, NJ. He grew up in New Jersey and also went to college there. He got a degree in Political Science from Seton Hall University. Fred, age 86, passed away on November 22, 2021 in Glenview, IL.
Fred was active in his faith community, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Over the years he served in many different callings at church. Some of these included teaching preschool aged children and leading the congregation in music. Most recently he served as a family history consultant and he would help people to research their family history.
Fred worked in the insurance industry as an underwriter for over 40 years. Some of his hobbies included playing the trumpet, playing golf, learning magic tricks, reading, doing crossword puzzles, listening to jazz music, taking care of animals, and watching golf and other sports on TV. He was a caring husband and father gifted with patience and kindness. There wasn't really anyone that didn't like him. He was intelligent, funny, and humble. Fred was a great example of serving others.
Fred was the loving husband of Doris Urban. He is survived by his children, Frederick M. (Michelle) Urban, Christine L. Hannigan, Nancy (Fred) Urban, Danyele McCutchen, and Diane M. (Brent) Mills; his grandchildren, Cara (Chad) Knapke, Jacqueline (Tony) Urban, Emily (Keith) Urban, Max Rodriguez, Aubrey Mills, Delia Mills, Ruby Mills, and Zachary Mills; and great grandchild Elenora "Elle" Knapke
