Florin G Berca, age 71, of Evanston, Il passed away peacefully at home on December 1, 2022. Beloved spouse of Jane Hampson for many wonderful years. Preceded in death by his parents, George Berca and Dr. Virginia Arazan, and his stepfather, George Arazan.

Florin was born in Bucharest, Romania. He and his mother were fortunate to be allowed to immigrate to the US when he was 17. He completed high school at De La Salle (Michigan) which he credits as preparing him for college after being in the US for just 15 months. A graduate of the Univ. of Michigan, he received his MBA from the University of Chicago. His career was spent in IT consulting at DEC, IBM and Arthur Anderson.

Florin loved the outdoors, whether mountain climbing, hiking, camping, sailing or traveling the world with Jane. He found serenity and renewal in being active and exploring what nature had to offer. He also enjoyed stone sculpting with the inspiration for his pieces coming from the organic nature of the stone itself. A devotee of The University of Chicago Graham School of Continuing Liberal and Professional Studies, Florin enjoyed reading and debating literature in more than 60 classes over the years.

Florin will remain forever in the hearts of his friends and family, and may he rest in peace.
