Obituary

Eugene Grant Forbes, Jr., affectionatly known as Eug or Geno, passed from earthly life on January 02, 2026 in Merrillville Indiana. Born in Harvey, Illinois on September 24,1965, he was raised in Park Forest, Illinois.

Eugene is survived by his wife, Robyn Cason- Forbes. His sons, Eugene Grant forbes III (Saphire), Aiden Kaleb Forbes, Kyle Allen Taylor, and his daughter, Katherine Lee Taylor (Mark).

His brother, Joe Forbes (Rozella), his sister, Michelle Forbes- Beguiristain (Carlos), his brother-in-law, Shane Ackermann (Lauren), his sister-in-law Lenya Rhunke and several beloved Nephews and Nieces. He is preceded in death by his Father, Eugene Grant Forbes Sr., and his Mother, Ruth Eileen Forbes.

A talented diesel and automobile Mechanic by proffesion, he had a natural affinity for engines. His work was more than a proffesion, it wqs a calling. He would often use his God given skills to help single mothers or others in need, generously diagnosing or repairing cars for free. After becoming disabled, he continued to nurture his passion by teching his sons vehicle maintenance and repair.

Eugene's Christian faith was essential to him and a cornerstone of his life. He drew strength from his relationship with Jesus. He was blessed to receive countless medical miracles with the Lord faithful to bring him through impossible odds many, many times. Despite enduring significant health challenges, Eugene remained steadfast- motivated by his love for his family, his desire to stay present for them and his desire to glorify God.

Eugene embraced the beautifully blended family that he built with Robyn, having just celebrated their 20th anniversary. He was proud of each of his children, whether biological or by marriage and loved them all deeply. He was so happy to be able to see Aiden, his youngest son enter his second year of High School despite being told he might not live to see him enter Kindergarten. Becoming "Papa" to Sienna and Eugene IV brought him great joy, they were the light of his later years.

He found joy in the simple things in life; listening to Rock-n-Roll LOUDLY, fishin by quiet waters, camping under the stars and building model cars. He especially loved spending time around a roaring bonfire surrounded by family, friends, laughter and music. Animals also held a special place in his heart, especially his dogs.

Those who knew Eugene, knew him as a fighter. Despite enduring more physical pain and illness than most can imagine, he fought on- not for himself alone but for those he loved. He hoped to be an inspiration, but knew his strength came from God. He had a unique soul that always made others feel accepted just as they were. My his memory bring comfort to those who mourn and continue to inspire strength in the face of adversity.
