Eric Christian Jacobson, age 83, died peacefully on June 24, 2025.

Born on September 11, 1941, in Akron, Ohio, to Arthur and Marvel Jacobson, Eric was a deeply spiritual man who lived his values with quiet conviction and openhearted generosity.

He received his bachelors at Concordia, Fort Wayne and attended Augustana Nursing School. A registered nurse by profession, Eric worked with various home health care agencies and spent his career offering care and comfort to others. After retiring 14 years ago, he remained active in the causes he believed in advocating for peace, immigrant rights, and gun reform.

Eric was the kind of person who made room for people, for stories, for justice, and for joy. His home was a place where the door was always open, where unexpected guests were welcomed without hesitation, and where there was always a seat at the table.

He is survived by his loving wife, Inez; his children, Ingrid and Anders; his children-in-law, Steve and Judy; his grandchildren, Everett and Ida; and a wide circle of extended family and friends whom he loved and who loved him dearly.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 9, from 2:00–3:30 p.m. at Lake Street Church in Evanston. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Doctors WIthout Borders or Parkinson's Foundation.
