Enrique
Herrera
Feb 18, 1980 — Sep 22, 2022
Enrique 'Ricky' Herrera, first beloved born to Bertha Herrera Paramo, kind hearted brother of Azalea & Lupe, adored grandson, full of personality nephew & always willing to listen cousin. It's Ricky's smile that we need to keep live in our hearts.
Ricky went by the tag name of Marvel, which means; a wonderful or astonishing person, and that he was! Enriqueo was a talented cat, from a rambunctious child to a talented young man. Ricky was self taught break dancer, trick skateboarder and knew all genres of music.
Rick had a laughter that spoke, it made the joke funnier and kept the room alive!
As a brother Ricky was the best and coolest big brother. Lupe recalls taking his low rider magazines to school to show out and enjoying who he was as a brother. As a brother Ricky would intently listen to his sisters problems and give the kind of advice that only Ricky could. Was understanding and non judgmental. Growing up Ricky brought a sense of peace to his sisters just being on the same floor together as roommates, talking at night till they'd fall asleep. Always protective even from afar. Azalea was Rick's first born younger sister, their bond was undeniable & they looked for eachother always like school morning roll call. Ricky was the proudest, happiest uncle to nephew Lorenzo. Lorenzo brought Enrique a love he had longed for.
Ricky's way of showing love was servitude, he loved throwing cookout BBQs, (even in the winter), making trays of lasagna, chicken noodle soup for sick loved ones, fancy crepes on a Wednesday to set his families day off to a good start. Ricky could make a bomb Michelada. Holidays were Ricky's favorite time! Making tamales with his mom for Thanksgiving was a guarantee.
Enrique was a tall man with the joy and spirit of a child. Survived by his mother, his confidant, her shadow, his purpose, her reason. Enrique loved and was loyal to his Mother Goose. Enrique and his mother would start their mornings together with coffee and planning how they were going to take over the world. They enjoyed painting together, going to the flea markets, summers at the beach, road trips, drives to get the best stuffed pizza, conversating, watching movies, cooking, and anything you could imagine two people who grew up together could have enjoyed.
Enrique is survived by the father who stepped up, Albert. Albert came into Ricky's life when he was 7 years old and was the consistent loving father figure Ricky has had since. They shared a father and son love.
Enrique is survived by his Uncle Tito, who was an uncle, big brother and partner in good times to Rick. Along with his Aunt Josie, in who Rick could count on her apple pie.
Enrique is survived by his Godparents, Rosalinda and Valentin, who Enrique kept close to his heart, always, the memory of their love and what they meant to him.
Enrique is survived by many cousins who loved and enjoyed Ricky for every laugh and wisecrack that left them thinking twice about life.
To have known Ricky is to have known a goodfellow. A man whose heart yearned for God, acceptance, family and love. To have known Ricky, we now know we knew someone that was 1 in a trillion, we knew someone who was deserving of more than this world would ever be able to bring to his doorstep and so the Lord brought him home. To have known Enrique is to have known a beautiful soul.
Psalm 9 vs 9-10
The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in time of trouble.
Those who know your name trust in you for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.
