Obituary

Elaine Shirley (Badzinski) Amato, affectionately known to all as Lulu, took her final bow on April 9, 2025. Born in the heart of Hamtramck, Michigan, on September 20, 1935.

Lulu's zest for life and laughter began early and never waned. Her departure from Niles, Illinois, came after a long and valiant battle with Alzheimer's, a journey she faced with the same grace and humor that characterized her entire life.Lulu's family was her pride and joy, her love for them as vast as her collection of garden flowers. She was the cherished daughter of Stanley M. Badzinski and Mildred (Stelmach) Badzinski, joining her beloved husband, Carlo Amato. She leaves behind a legacy through her siblings the late Donald Badzinski, Deanna (Badzinski) Passerello, Sharon (Badzinski) Wendel, Susie (Badzinski) Dony, and the late Tom Badzinski. Lulu's spirit lives on in her daughters, Lynette M. Amato and Randi C. Amato, as well as her adored grandchildren, Zachery, Lucas (his wife, Kate Ruda-Lewandowski), Jaxon Lewandowski, Travis Disque (his fiancée, Samantha Lakatos) and Brandon Disque ( his wife, Kari Tiger Disque). Her great grandsons, Theo and Jesse Tiger Disque, will grow up with stories of their great-grandma's loving and spirited nature. Numerous nieces and nephews continue to carry the torch of Lulu's creative flame. Before she was the matriarch of her family,

Lulu was the queen of the retail world, reigning over Lulu's Fashions, a women's apparel store that was the epitome of style and sass. When she wasn't making the world a more beautiful place, one blouse at a time, she was crunching numbers as a steel sales bookkeeper, proving that a woman can be both fashionable and financially savvy.Lulu's interests were as colorful as her personality. She could often be found in her garden, coaxing life from the soil with the same ease she coaxed smiles from those around her. Her knitting, sewing, and crafting skills were legendary, with scarves and sweaters that not only warmed the body but also the soul. Each creation was infused with her loving touch and a dash of her mischievous sense of humor. To say Lulu was loving, spirited, and creative is like saying a garden needs sun—it's simply a fact. Her laughter was infectious, her wit sharp, and her ability to find the silver lining was unparalleled. She was the life of every party, even if it was just a Tuesday night dinner. Her legacy is not just in the memories she leaves behind but in the laughter she inspired.Lulu's story is one of a life well-lived, a life filled with joy, creativity, and love.

Her departure leaves a void in the fabric of her family and community, but like any great comedian, she knew the show must go on. We imagine her now, regaling the angels with tales of her earthly escapades, a twinkle in her eye, and a smile on her lips. So, let's raise a glass to Elaine Shirley (Badzinski) Amato—Lulu to us.

Here's to a woman who lived fully, loved deeply, and laughed often. May her stories continue to bring joy, her lessons of love endure, and her spirit remain an ever-present warmth in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Curtain down, applause up, and Lulu, take your well-deserved final bow.
