Dwayne
Jones
Dec 25, 1962 — Jan 11, 2026
Dwayne "Wayne" Jones, a cherished soul known for his selfless nature, boundless optimism, and adventurous spirit, passed away peacefully on January 11, 2026, in Chicago, Illinois. Born on Christmas Day in 1962 in Mobile, Alabama, Wayne's life was a testament to the power of positivity and the joy of exploration.
Wayne grew up in the warm embrace of his loving family and was predeceased by his devoted parents, Minnie Lee and Riley Jones, as well as his dear brother, Dannie Jones. He carried the legacy of his family's love and support throughout his life. Wayne's joyful presence will be deeply missed by his niece, Latrina Silmon (Sherrod), his nephew Dwayne Jones, two great-nieces, five great-nephews, and a host of cherished friends and extended family members.
After completing his education at Austin Career Academy High School in Chicago, IL, Wayne pursued his passion for automobiles. He found great satisfaction in working on cars, a skill he honed alongside his brother Dannie and their uncle DC. This shared interest was not just a hobby but a bond that tied them together through countless hours under the hoods of various vehicles, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Wayne's love for the open road was unparalleled. He relished in the opportunity to take road trips with his family, traveling from Chicago to Alabama and up to Racine, Wisconsin. These journeys were not just about the destinations, but the laughter, stories, and sense of freedom that came with every mile.
Known for his can-do attitude and willingness to lend a hand, Wayne made a lasting impact on those around him. He lived by the well-known adage, attributed to Mahatma Gandhi, "The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others." Wayne embodied this philosophy, consistently putting the needs of others before his own and spreading joy with his ever-present smile.
As we say goodbye to Wayne, we reflect on a life well-lived, filled with love, adventure, and selfless acts of kindness. His optimistic outlook and adventurous spirit will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. Wayne's memory will be cherished and kept alive in the stories shared by those who loved him and the countless lives he touched.
In the words of Wayne himself, "Every day is a chance to make a positive difference." His legacy is a powerful reminder to us all to live fully, love generously, and embrace every adventure that life presents. Wayne's journey may have come to an end, but the path he forged will be followed by many for years to come.
