Douglas "Doug" Johnson, 70, of Chicago, IL, long time resident of Fox Lake, IL, passed away surrounded by family on October 18, 2025.

He was born on September 9, 1955 to Geraldine & Douglas Johnson in Chicago, Illinois. He was a graduate of Senn High School, class of 1973.

He is survived by his daughters Jennifer (Jonathan) DeShasier and Kimberly (Troy) Petersen, his loving partner, Deborah Cavanaugh, brother Robert Hively-Johnson, sisters Judy Hafeman and Carol (Bob) Orwig, and many loving nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Michael Johnson, and brother-in-law, Robert Hafeman.

Doug was a proud grandfather to Finn Petersen, Taylor DeShasier, and Rylee DeShasier. They took many adventures together playing at local parks, attending sporting events, exploring museums, and visiting the animals at Brookfield Zoo.

He had a vast range of hobbies including cooking, traveling, working on cars, listening to music, and reading. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed bird watching, fishing, hiking, playing outside with his dog, and hunting.

He will be greatly missed and remembered for his sense of humor, outgoing personality, and love for his family & friends.
